This retreat sets up the right circumstances for you let go and allow contentment to arrive. The schedule includes a balance of energizing active asana with slow gentle yoga sessions, lots restorative yoga practice, iRest® guided meditation, optional massage and Zentangle® sessions, delicious nourishing meals, and free time for hiking, reading, knitting, and chatting with friends.

Suitable for students of all levels and abilities. No yoga, meditation, or drawing experience is necessary.

Location & Accommodations

Blue Mountain Retreat Center is a small, eco-friendly retreat center is situated on 27 acres of property in a rural community in the hills near Harper’s Ferry. This welcoming escape from the hustle of everyday life in the city feels worlds away even though it is located just 65 miles outside of DC.

P1020390The retreat house is a welcoming home complete with a large kitchen, eight guest rooms for up to 22 guests, a massage room, a large deck, and lots of open sitting areas indoors, plus plenty of dining space – inside and outside – where guests enjoy meals together.

Rooms have access to three shared hall bathrooms. Twin-size European platform beds with high quality mattresses make for a simple but very comfortable stay. All towels and linens are provided.

The yoga space is perfect for restorative practice. Conveniently located just a few steps away from the house, it is a lovely light-filled “great” room with high ceilings, large windows, and skylights.

Food

Delicious organic vegan home-cooked meals are prepared by retreat center owner Beth Ehrhardt. Cheese, yogurt, and milk are available and most meal options are gluten-free.

Retreat Leaders

Tara headshot 2016Tara Lemerise, E-RYT 200, was expecting the Ashtanga Primary Series but accidentally ended up in a restorative yoga class instead and was hooked. She is now known for leading deeply calming, nurturing restorative yoga practices. Tara’s skillful use of props and soothing voice help students optimize the healing power of restorative practice so everyone leaves feeling more joyful and more at ease after each session. ST headshot 2013Special guest iRest® Yoga Nidra teacher, Susan Timmons is a longtime yogi and native Texan who especially enjoys the relaxing and easeful benefits of Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra.  In 2011, Susan received advanced training from the Integrative Restoration Institute® and teaches an adaptation of Yoga Nidra known as iRest® and is currently studying to be  a Restorative Yoga teacher.  When not teaching, Susan lives in New York with her husband and is an immigration lawyer who directs the Pro Bono Program for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

Jessica DaviesSpecial guest Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT) and Mixed Media Artist, Jessica Davies is a busy professional by day, mom, artist, fierce friend and craftaholic. Not necessarily in that order. With a successful career and a son in college, Jessica began taking art classes and grew to love the Zentangle Method®. She took classes locally, traveled to work with nationally-renowned mixed media artists, and became certified to teach Zentangle. Her classes are relaxing and fun, and always injected with a small sense of whimsy and a big dose of positivity. Read more. 

Cost

Cost includes Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night stay, 9 meals, and all yoga sessions.
