Special guest Art Instructor, Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT), and Mixed Media Artist, Jessica Davies offers recurring classes at The Queen’s Ink in Savage, MD. She has corporate and private clients, and works at regional and national art retreats. Jessica describes herself as an artist, career-minded individual, fierce friend, and craftaholic, not necessarily in that order. Her classes are relaxing and fun, and always injected with a small sense of whimsy and a big dose of positivity.
What is Zentangle®?
Zentangle is a simple, intuitive, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Practicing Zentangle increases focus and creativity, and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. Globally, people of varying ages and artistic abilities practice this meditative form of artistic expression.
What is the Zentangle Basics class?
Sometimes called “yoga for the brain,” Zentangle is an easy to learn and relaxing method of creating beautiful images using repetitive patterns. Students in this 2-hour introductory class will learn the basic method of creating seemingly intricate designs, become familiar with the vocabulary, learn how to use the tools of the trade, and leave with a finished piece worthy of framing. No drawing experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.
What is the Flip Card and Found Poetry class?
Come and augment your meditative/yoga practice with art. Two projects will be taught during this creative session: never-ending flip cards and found poetry. Both speak to different parts of the brain and both are easy to replicate on your own after the retreat. Participants can use their new-found Zentangle skills on the pieces and/or try some of the other tools provided as decoration. All supplies and hands-on instruction for both projects will be provided.
You can experience Jessica’s teachings at one of Tara’s restorative yoga retreats.
